respACT – austrian business council for sustainable development has been the official Focal Point of the Austrian UN Global Compact Network since 2006, and as such coordinates all UN Global Compact activities at the national level. A Steering Committee composed of dedicated members of the Austrian Network was set up in 2009. respACT directs and coordinates the Steering Committee, and organizes the biannual meetings of this Committee.
Duties of the Steering Committee:
- Strategic direction of the Austrian UN Global Compact Network
- Direction of the activities of the Austrian UN Global Compact Network (evaluation of past and planning of future activities)
- Creation of general guidelines for the Austrian UN Global Compact Network
- Increasing awareness of the UN Global Compact among Austrian companies and the general public
- Active efforts to expand the Network
- Assisting the Austrian members of the UN Global Compact in implementing the ten principles
- Initiation of concrete projects and identification of best practice
